Event Details

The Department of Psychology, Govt. Degree College Women Anantnag, organized a “Psychological Fest2026” on 14th May 2026 under the patronage of the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Khalida Hassan. The event aimed to promote awareness regarding mental health, counselling, self-awareness and psychological wellbeing among students and staff members of the college. At the outset of the programme, the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Khalida Hassan, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of mental health awareness, especially among the younger generation. She appreciated the efforts of the Department of Psychology for organizing such a meaningful and activity-based programme. The guests and participants were formally welcomed by Prof. Shamsul Din Sheikh, Head, Department of Psychology. In his welcome address, he emphasized the need to create awareness regarding psychological well-being and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. A skit titled “It’s Okay to Be Not Okay” was presented by the students of the Department of Psychology. Through their performance, the students portrayed the real societal picture of mental health, social stigma, social comparison, emotional struggles and the healing role of counselling. The skit was highly appreciated by the audience for its impactful message and realistic presentation. The guest speaker of the event, Dr. Rehana Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College Anantnag, delivered a detailed lecture on mental health with special reference to the female gender. She discussed various psychological challenges faced by women in society and stressed the importance of emotional support, counselling and early intervention in maintaining mental well-being. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Rubia Jan, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, guest speaker, faculty members, students and all participants for making the event successful. The programme was moderated by Ms. Fatima Jeelani, a student of 6th semester, who conducted the proceedings in a professional and engaging manner. The stalls included “Know Yourself,” “Self-Control,” “Expressive Writing,” “Art Therapy,” “Yoga and Meditation,” “Gratitude Tree,” “Anti-Drug Message and Pledge,” and several other interactive activities aimed at promoting mental health awareness, emotional well-being and self-exploration. The stalls enthusiastic attracted participation from students and staff members of the college and served as an interactive platform for learning and psychological awareness. The entire event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college. The event coverage and documentation were carried out by Mr. Adil, who covered all the major activities and proceedings of the fest.
