REPORT ON Teachers Day CELEBRATION The Department of Education, Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, celebrated teachers Day on 6th October with great enthusiasm and active participation of students and faculty members. The programme aimed to highlight the potential of youth and create awareness about their responsibilities, challenges, aspirations, and role of teachers in nation building. The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Khalida Hassan, who appreciated the Department of Education for organising the programme. She encouraged the students to develop confidence, responsibility, creativity, and a positive outlook towards life. This was followed by the opening remarks by the Head of the Department, Prof. Arif Hussain Wani. He highlighted the significance of International Youth Day and emphasised the important role of young people in bringing about positive social and educational transformation. The programme provided an opportunity for students to express their views on issues concerning youth. Several students of the Department delivered thoughtful speeches on the theme of youth, their aspirations, challenges, responsibilities, and contribution to society. Among the notable student speakers were Sana Mudasir, Ishrat Jan, and Masrat Jan, who presented their views with confidence and clarity. The faculty members also addressed the gathering and provided valuable insights. Prof. Syed Bilal Ahmad spoke on the challenges faced by girl students and the role of college teachers in helping them overcome these challenges. He emphasised the importance of creating a supportive and encouraging educational environment in which girl students can develop confidence and realise their academic and personal potential. Dr. Shahid Ahmad Bhat highlighted the transformative contribution of teachers in the lives of students. He discussed the changing nature of the teacher's role in contemporary education and stressed that teachers today are required to function as mentors, facilitators, counsellors, motivators, and role models. The programme was ably moderated by Fayouna Reyaz, a 5th Semester student, who managed the proceedings with confidence, grace, and maturity. Her effective stage management contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the programme. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, participating students, and everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the event. As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, certificates were distributed among the participating students for their active involvement in the programme. The celebration provided a meaningful platform for students to express their ideas, develop public speaking skills, and reflect upon the responsibilities and opportunities associated with youth. The programme concluded on a positive and inspiring note.
