REPORT ON CYBER CRIME AWARENESS PROGRAMME Theme: Cyber Crime: A New Form Of Violence against women Date: 29 September 2026 Venue: Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag A Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on the theme “Cyber Crime: A New Form of Violence against women” was organised at Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, on 29 September 2026 with the objective of sensitising students and faculty members about emerging cyber threats and promoting responsible and secure digital practices. The programme provided an overview of major forms of cybercrimes affecting women, including cyber stalking, catfishing, webcam hijacking, voyeurism, image morphing, cyber pornography and cyber defamation. The session highlighted the methods through which digital platforms and communication technologies may be misused to harass, deceive, intimidate or compromise the privacy and dignity of individuals. A significant component of the programme focused on recent AI trends in cybercrime, including the misuse of Artificial Intelligence for deep fakes, voice cloning, identity impersonation, AI-assisted phishing, manipulated images and videos, and sophisticated social engineering. The discussion emphasised the need for heightened digital vigilance in view of the increasing sophistication of AI-enabled cyber threats. The programme also underscored the importance of digital privacy, responsible social-media usage, protection of personal information, strong authentication practices and timely reporting of suspicious online activities. Outcome The programme successfully enhanced awareness among the participants regarding prevalent and emerging forms of cybercrime and the importance of adopting safe and responsible digital practices. It reinforced the need for continued cyber-safety awareness and digital literacy initiatives within educational institutions.
